Description: Here’s a very early and absolutely wonderful one-owner Dot ES-335 from a great year in Rock n Roll: 1982! Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty and Billy Idol all had new singles floating on the airwaves and speaking of ES-335s, Mr ES-335, Larry Carlton himself played on Donald Fagen’s terrific “Night Fly” album that same year. Oh yeah, and perhaps most relevant to this post, Gibson learned how to make an ES-335 again the way player’s wanted them! By the year this cherry beauty was made Gibson had dropped the trapeze tailpiece, skinny nut width, volute and other features of 70s ES-335s that proved unpopular with players but retained the three piece neck..a feature that likely helped in keeping the neck on this ES-335 listed here true and straight after 42 years.
This 335 is lighter in weight; has what this writer considers to be a “Goldi Locks” medium profile neck that is worn just right; lively and loud resonance when unplugged and the classic, woody, harmonically rich tone of a great ES-335 when plugged in. If you’re looking to add a another amazing guitar to your stable of great guitars; or your looking for your “one and only”, “do it all guitar”; or something in between you owe it to yourself to consider this stunner from ’82! You’ll be inspired every time you reach for it.
