Gibson EB-0 Solidbody Bass

Made in: Kalamazoo, MI. USA

Approx. Time of manufacture: 1965

Finish: original Cardinal Red finish from Gibson

Operational Condition: Fully-Functional

Case: These basses typically came with chipboard cases that were inexpensive and unreliable protection and often fell apart. This bass comes with an unoriginal hard case.

Mods/Changes: When this bass came to us, the neck had shifted significantly in the neck pocket. It was not broken or cracked whatsoever but the glue in the neck pocket had failed and the neck needed to be reset. Our technician reset and re-glued the neck into the pocket and as a result, it is a fantastic playing bass and will be reliable for decades and decades to come.

Cosmetic Condition: Good with a checking in the original Cardinal Red finish in various spots, dings, marks and other battle scars from the last 60-some years of being played and loved. On either side of the neck joint there is a strip of missing finish from where the neck had moved. This can be seen in photos 8,9 and 10 of this listing. There is an extra hole on the upper horn where a strap pole was moved. 7.5 out of 10 condition

Description: What a fantastic survivor from one of the greatest years in Rock n’ Roll and Gibson history: 1965! This fine example in Cardinal Red (a solid Fire Engine Red-like custom color that is opaque unlike the transparent and much more common standard Cherry finish) is beautiful and perfectly aged; the round, beefy neck is perfectly worn in and a joy to play on; the body and neck are resonant and lightweight and the classic Gibson humbucker has a fat, warm, vibe-y tone that sounds like those great 1960s R&B, Rock n’ Roll, etc bass tones that we all love. If you’re looking for a wondeful playing bass in a rare color that will only appreciate in value as it inspires your recordings and performances you owe it to yourself to consider this lovely EB-0 from ’65!
