National New Yorker Lap Steel

Finish/Color: Black and white

Operational-Condition: Fully-functioning. This instrument has two pickups next to each other that can be blended via the knob behind the bridge. One of the two pickups was dead when we got the instrument. It’s since been professionally rewound. It’s possible the other pickup may need repair as it is quieter than the newly rewound one but we decided to leave it as the rewound pickup sounds great as does the blended sound

Cosmetic condition: Good to Very Good. There is some missing finish on the butt end of the instrument and some other dings, scratches and other signs of its age.

Case: The case we got this steel with is likely a Fender case and not the case it came from from the factory. The case is also in very rough condition and partially broken at one end. We’re including it because it will aid in the safe transport of the instrument and also it has the original owner’s name on it as well as the name he gave this steel: Donna.

Description: Here’s a beautiful old National steel guitar that was sold to us by the original owner’s granddaughter. She told us that her granddad was from Mississippi and would play this guitar in the juke joints down there before eventually moving to Chicago (where he continued playing). Pretty damn cool!
