Fender Deluxe Reverb
Year: 1965
Origin: Fullerton, CA. USA
Power Requirements: Power cable has been upgraded to a 3-prong.
Modifications/Servicing: Most of the preamp tubes are changed. The original speaker was replaced with a UK-made Celestion that sounds excellent in this amp. Three prong cable has been added.
Operational Condition: Fully-Functioning and fabulous sounding
Cosmetic Condition: Among the very most classic and revered guitar amps ever built, the black panel Fender Deluxe Reverb is THE sound of electric guitar and quite possibly the handiest, most “Goldilocks” of all the classics..We say that because no other amp quite has the overlap on the Venn diagram of tone than the Deluxe Reverb. It’s very portable for an able bodied player of any size but its 12″ speaker and 22 or so watts means it has more headroom and frequency range than say a Princeton Reverb. It can do clean with the best of them but turn it up and lean into a little and you’ll be rewarded with a subtle spongy compression and smooth overdrive that sounds three dimensional, rich and alive. Add to it, the benchmark for spring reverb and tremolo on board and you have a true desert island amp provided said island has a power outlet. This fairly clean and almost entirely original DR from ’65 (but comprised almost entirely of original parts that date to 1964) is as fine of an example as any for the studio owner or gigging musician who is more interested in using and enjoying it as a magnificent tool of tone than the collector who just wants to stare at a mint version. If you’re after the best in guitar tone you owe it to yourself to consider this Deluxe Reverb from 1965 right here!
