Fender Mustang

Year: 1965

Origin: Fullerton, CA. USA Neck description: Fender “A” neck that denotes a thin 1 1/2″ width at the nut.

Finish: Olympic White. We’re not certain what’s going on with the finish on this ol’ stang. The finish is in rough shape with unevenness to the paint in terms of sheen and texture, “orange peel”, pock marks, dings, etc. There is yellowing to the finish throughout. At first we thought the guitar was refinished somewhat amateurishly but perhaps the original finish was messed with/sanded/re-lacquered etc, because there is no paint in the cavities and there is a white finish that is the same but lighter under the guard and trem where it wasn’t exposed to light and didn’t yellow. It’s hard to say exactly what the finish in terms of originality so please take this in to consideration.

Pickups: 1980s Seymour Hot Rails stacked humbucker in the bridge and a Seymour Duncan stacked humbucker in the neck as well

Case: Non-original hard case is included

Modifications/Repairs: Where to begin! Possibly refinished but likely just an altered original finish that is in poor shape and oversprayed somewaht crudely. Pickups, knobs, potentiometers, neck plate and tuners are all changed. A string tree has been added. Bridge and trem system are original but the set screw that holds the trem arm (not included) is stuck inside the trem bar due to corrosion. A trem arm does still fit in the cavity however. Trem arm is not included

Cosmetic Condition: Fair with dings, scratches, oxidation, a strange-looking paint finish, exposed original tuner holes, etc. 5 out of 10 cosmetic condition

Operational Condition: Fully-functioning including all electronics, truss rod, etc with the only exception being the stuck set screw mentioned earlier in this listing.

Description: Look at this Rock n’ Roll survivor right here! This thing has been knocked around, dinged up, modified, transmogrified, pilfered from and just generally loved hard! When you see a guitar that’s been in the game this long and still plays great you know that somebody or several people just couldn’t put it down. Well, it’s time for the next chapter in this wild stallion’s adventure so if you’ve always wanted a vintage Mustang but need the less noisy but more powerful tone of humbucker pickups and you prefer to have a guitar that’s been hardened by battle that you won’t have to baby, you owe it to yourself to consider this unique ‘stang from ’65!
