Description: This is an incredible guitar and a rare one as well made by the little known European maker Oosterhaut. We couldn’t find much info on it but we believe it’s either Dutch (Oosterhaut is a region in The Netherlands) or German. It’s resonant and lively; has a balanced volume across the strings and up and down the neck and a loud voice when unplugged and sings when plugged in. This is to say nothing of the gorgeous flamed maple figuring on the back, sides and neck and pearl hexagram inlays.
Alright, enough of this writer’s subjective (but honest) take on this fräulein let’s go over some specs. Here’s what we know and what we think we (might) know. First, this is a double cut, thin depth, hollowbody with solid maple back and sides with a carved spruce top. It has a medium to beefy neck, great fretwork and a fresh setup from our in-house technician. We have a hunch this guitar was made in the early 1980s due to the brass nut and wooden pickguard and the original tuners (Schallers) are stamped “made in W. Germany) meaning they were made before the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990. All in all, it is an exceptional hollowbody and a rare piece that will inspire its next owner for years and years to come!
