Gibson Les Paul Deluxe

Year: 1971

Origin: Kalamazoo, MI. USA

Color: Gold top with natural mahogany back and sides

Weight: 10 lbs 0 oz

Neck description: Rosewood fretboard/Maple Neck with a round “C” shape that fits great in the hand. The neck is beefy but not huge.

Modifications: Top has been refinished (it was originally a Gold top as well) and headstock veneer has been resprayed. There was originally a Bigsby on the guitar and the extra holes can be seen at the butt end of the guitar. One tone pot is a 1988 replacement, the rest are original from ’71. The bridge pickup had one metal leg broken off and a previous owner had a metal cross bar added to keep it from moving in its cavity. The cover was also off of that same pickup suggesting a possible rewind was done but we’re not sure if it was or not. The neck pickup is also original to the guitar and has no issues. The bridge and posts are not original. Knobs are changed. Control cavity screws are changed. All other parts/finish are original and there has never been any structural cracks/ breaks at the neck, heel or elsewhere.

Case/Extras: Comes with original balk tolex/purple interior Gibson case. Case is in good shape with wear and tear to be expected from its age. Interior is in nice shape and there are no strong odors.

Cosmetic Condition: Good condition with a fair amount of wear to the finish on the back, the previously mentioned evidence of a moved strap button, the extra holes at the butt end of the guitar from a Bigsby install and other small dings, marks. The refin’d Gold looks excellent and professional and is in Very Good shape. Overall condition is a 7.5 out of 10

Functional Condition: Fully-functioning including truss rod, pickups, electronics, etc. Frets are the classic wide and flatter 1970s-style. Action is low and comfortable without buzzing and bending notes is easy all the way up the neck

Description: Cork sniffing collectors might take cover from this working guitarist’s ’71 LP Deluxe but players know a good one when they see/hear/feel one. This player-grade LP has some some upgrades/repairs that tend to be needed on a guitar that’s been obviously played and adored for over five decades but it’s never been broken or cracked and still retains many original parts and we gotta believe ALL of the mojo (and has only added to said mojo over the years!) since it rolled out of Kalamazoo 54 years ago. If you’re after an LP with history and vibe that simply cannot be replicated in a new guitar for a fraction of the price of a collector-grade piece that you’d be too nervous to play out anyway, you owe it yourself to consider this ’71 Goldie from the Golden age of Rock n’ Roll!
